Scouting Report: DT Josh Chapman

QB / RB / WR / TE / OT / OG / OC / DE / DT / OLB / ILB / CB / FS / SS

Height: 6’1

Weight: 310 lbs.

Grade: 5.8F (Grading Scale)

Film Room Notes:

Chapman v. LSU

Chapman v. Florida

Chapman v. Arkansas

Strengths:

Classic zero gap NT prospect who should fit into a 34 scheme very well…is a monster at the POA and has the ability to take on the double team…is almost impossible to block one one one…has an underrated first step…works hard in preparation to figure out teams cadences and jump the snap count…has the strength to push the OC or OG into the backfield…Does a great job taking up multiple blockers and keeping the LB’s clean…Very difficult to move off the line of scrimmage…people underrate him because he’s not quite the playmaker Cody was…Nasty player who plays through the whistle and works hard…has great girth for NT at the next level.

Weaknesses:

Is not going to blow up a box score…Does not offer much in terms of pursuit…would like to see him get more aggressive in attempting to collapse the pocket…Conditioning level has fluctuated some while at Bama, will need to monitor that…A little shorter than ideal and his arm length is not optimal…Struggles to change direction and can be juked when he breaks into the backfield…need to see him work harder on disengaging consistently.

Miscellaneous Notes:

Nicknamed ‘The Incredible Hulk’…at one point held Alabama maximum bench press mark at 480 lbs.
