DT Mike Martin Scouting Report

DT Mike Martin-Michigan
Height: 6’1
Weight: 304 lbs.
Projection: Round 4
Grade: 6.4 (Grading Scale)

Strengths:
A tireless defender who is always moving and trying to create something with his rush…love how active he is with his hands…constant fighter in the trenches who has a tenacious and nasty attitude…he is the embodiment of a wolverine when trying to block him…He abused Mike Brewster when they head to head this year…so strong at the point of attack…generates great push and plays with phenomenal leverage…is a willing participant in pursuit and will make tackles well past the line of scrimmage…at his best when allowed to shoot gaps and use his strength to beat blocks.

Weaknesses:
He’s not an elite caliber of athlete…doesn’t have a wide array of pass rush moves, will beat you with effort and brute strength more so than with technique and moves…he’s a bit undersized and there are concerns regarding his arm length…likely can’t add much more weight due to frame limitations so will always be a little light…must continue to work on getting his hands better and improving his technique, playing with as much effort as he gives will only get you so far, if he can add just a little more technique he has a chance to go from a mid-late round pick to a big time contributor in the NFL.

Film Room Notes:
