RB Bernard Pierce Scouting Report

QB / RB / WR / TE / OT / OG / OC / DE / DT / OLB / ILB / CB / FS / SS

RB Bernard Pierce-Temple
Height: 6’1
Weight: 210 lbs.
Projection: Round 2
Grade: 6.7 (Grading Scale)

Strengths:
Pierce runs with great vision and instinct…he sees running lanes before they fully develop and has a great feel for when to cut back runs…Generates plenty of power for his frame and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder and deliver a blow…has some shake in his hips that can make you miss in the open field…has the speed to turn the corner and toss and sweep plays…runs with a very low center of gravity that allows him to bounce off of would be tacklers like a pinball…runs with good balance and drive…its very tough to tackle Pierce up high…One of the smoothest runners in this class, his runs look effortless out there…does a good job getting skinny in the hole…always falls forward for an extra yard or two.

Weaknesses:
Does not have that game breaking speed…also concerns about his ability to run through the middle in the NFL…saw him struggle with indecision when the hole was not clearly open on runs up the middle…would like to see more of his as a pass catching threat…has yet to play a full season injury free…needs to continue to develop as a pass blockers utilizing his size…at times is too patient waiting for blocks to set up in front of him and can get caught in pursuit…isn’t the most athletically gifted RB and could struggle to be as dominant in the NFL as he was in college.

Film Room Notes:
Pierce v. Ohio
Pierce v. Wyoming
