OT Matt McCants Souting Report

OT Matt McCants-UAB

Height: 6’5

Weight: 309 lbs.

Grade: 6.9 (Grading Scale)

Arm Length: 35”

Hand Size: 8 ¾”

Projection: Round 3

Strengths:

We were very happy to see that McCants’s length that he showed off on film came through on his measurement…his long arms are ideal for the LT position and will help compliment his frame…does a good job extending his arms on the punch…looks very good sliding his feet and mirroring the pass rush…his clean footwork has allows him to remain on balance and evenly distribute his weight…has the athletic ability to be the lead blocker when asked to pull and get outside in the open field.

Weaknesses:

McCants has the frame to add some weight and he needs to consider adding it in pure strength…he seemed to have the most trouble with power rush ends who were able to get him out of his anchor and push him into the pocket…he struggles to re-anchor after initial contact…could use some more lower body strength so that he could become a better drive blocker in the running game…some more work on staying low out of his stance and playing with better leverage could make a big impact in his game with minimal work.

Notes:

McCants v. Marshall

McCants v. Southern Miss
