CB Ryan Steed Scouting Report

CB Ryan Steed-Furman

Height: 5’10

Weight: 190 lbs.

Projection: Round 3

Grade: 6.9  (Grading Scale)

Steed has good size and length for the CB position…has long arms which all him to be bigger than his listed height would suggest…he has great instincts which allow him to anticipate throws well..fluid athlete who can transition from backpedal to sprint with no wasted movement…tracks the ball very well over his shoulder…times his jumps right to make plays on the football…has the speed and athletic ability to stay in the hip pocket of WR’s…Shut down WR Brian Quick multiple times in his career…solid tackler who wraps up well…does a good job in zone coverage keeping the play in front of him and breaking on the ball…Played in one of the strongest conferences in the FCS so level of competition is not a question.

Questionable deep speed…ran mostly zone coverage schemes at Furman and has an under developed press technique…very raw overall as a CB who will need time to refine aspect of his game…will cheat on his backpedal and try and open his hips early, this wasn’t exposed in college but will be in the NFL…must continue to clean up his backpedal and make it smoother overall…as of now he at times will look uncoordinated and will lose burst on his turn.
