Here is our estimate at who will be the top workout warriors from the DT position:
40 Yard Dash-Michael Brockers-4.72
3 Cone Drill-Jerel Worthy-7.21
Short Shuttle- Devon Still-4.32
Bench Press-Dontari Poe 40

For the defensive tackle position (and the DE position) one of the most important things to take note of is their 10 yard split time in the 40 yard dash. This showcases the players explosion out of his stance and can give you some idea about how quick he can get after it.

We fully expect DT’s like Brett Roy, Michael Brockers, and Mike Martin to fire off the line pretty well but the one DT who we really need to see do it will be Jerel Worthy. Worthy left school early for the NFL but had questions about his consistency from drive to drive. Laying down a good time would be very beneficial.

For the bigger DT/NT prospects the bench press needs to be where they make their mark, guys like Alameda Ta’amu, Dontari Poe, Josh Chapman*, and Dominique Hamilton all ideally need to put up strong bench press numbers. Some are projecting Poe to be among the top bench pressers at this event.

Two guys we’re going to be looking at very closely will be Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson. Cox is a player who is quietly creeping up NFL Draft boards, while Jackson is either a prospect you love or hate. Both players could have some very surprising numbers in front of the scouts.

One name who seems to be lost in the shuffle since the underclassmen declared has been Penn State DT Devon Still. Expect him to be very solid across all the workouts and examine and reinsert himself in the discussion to be the top DT taken.

If you want a sleeper DT to watch check out Clemson DT Rennie Moore. He didn’t quite get the press than his teammate Brandon Thompson did but he’s a good ball player and a very quick DT who knows how to get into the gaps.
