TE Dwayne Allen Scouting Report

TE Dwayne Allen-Clemson

Height: 6’4

Weight: 255 lbs.

Grade: 6.7 (Grading Scale)

Projection: Round2

Strengths:

May be the purest pass catcher of any TE in this class…does a good job snatching the ball out away from his body and shows off athleticism when he has to go up after a pass…He’s not quite as much of an athlete as Orson Charles is but he has more than enough speed to give the LB trouble in coverage…Explodes well off the line and really works hard to get through traffic and into his route…fits the mold of that new age TE with his ability to line up wide in the slot or even on the outside…likes to utilize a head fake in his routes to try and get the LB and DB leaning one way before going the other. Is probably the best combination of a blocker and pass catcher of any TE in this class.

Weaknesses:

Our main concern about Allen revolves around his inability to use his dominant size too physically over power opponents…doesn’t run the crispest of routes and seems to float too much on his crossing routes which allows defenders to undercut him…quicker than fast…won’t give QB’s a ton of separation on his routes…offers little YAC ability in terms of making somebody miss or breaking a tackle despite his size…still somewhat of a raw prospect who is still learning how to properly utilize his size and skills in conjunction to be a dominant player.

Notes:
