Clemson DE Andre Branch to visit Buffalo Bills

Visits by Branch and Irvin tell us plenty about where the Bills currently see their DE situation

As we hit the 30 day mark until the NFL Draft more news comes out of OBD that we now have the identity of another one of the Bills visitors. This time is DE Andre Branch of Clemson coming in for a visit. The pass rusher from Death Valley, figures to be a 43 DE or 34 OLB in the NFL and showcases a skill set that includes an explosive first step and plenty of ability to change directions as well.

This is now two pass rush prospects the Bills have brought in, as well as meeting with Syracuse DE Chandler Jones at the combine. This clearly signals that despites signing Mario Williams and Mark Anderson the Bills still don’t feel fully comfortable with the DE situation. Nor should they behind Williams and Anderson there is no real pass rush threat, so adding a pressure guy early in the draft could still be in play.

Branch is an electric pass rusher who does a good job running the arc on his rush, but also deploys a good inside counter move in order to keep the OT off balance and guessing. He has great size at 6’4, 259 lbs. with 34” arms. He’s coming off a career year where he went for double digit sacks and seemed to finally put it all together.
