Report: DE Mario Williams still on his visit to Buffalo

Patriots fans may want to get used to this image if Mario signs with the Bills

Within the first 15 minutes of the Free Agency period the Buffalo Bills have owned the moment as they have already scheduled visits with top free agents Mario Williams (Houston) and Robert Meachem (New Orleans).

Williams is considered to be the #1 Free Agent in all of the NFL right now. He would surely command a huge deal and speculation has been rampant that it would be above 15 million dollars a year for 5-6 years. Now how much of that will end up being true? Who knows but the fact that he is coming to Buffalo is a huge first step for a franchise that absolutely must do something to change its culture.

Williams would easily fill the Bills biggest need which is for a pass rush threat in their new 43 front. Lining Williams up next to Marcel Dareus for the next 5-6 years should make Bills fan giddy and the fact that it would mean QB’s Tom Brady and Mark Sanchez would be looking up from the turf should allow us all to laugh maniacally.

Williams is huge but let’s not down play the role of Meachem in his visit. The Bills need speed on the outside and that’s what Meachem has plenty of. He has enough speed to get deep in a hurry and has to be accounted for at all times because of his big play ability.

Meachem should tell you all you need to know about the Bills being serious about making a splash. Why you may ask, and the answer is because they aren’t just targeting Mario and being content with it. They want to show him and us all that they are going to change the way we do things and the way the last 12 years have programmed us to think.

UPDATE: Per Jason La Canfora of NFLN Williams will NOT sign tonight and will take at least one other visit. He will stay in Buffalo tonight though.

UPDATE: Buffalo News Tim Graham says Mario was spotted leaving the medical center which would indicate he has take a physical. This is only a step in the process of offering him a deal but a very big one.

Stay safe Bills fans, and step away from the ledge!

I don’t want Williams. The pectoral and hernia are big issues for me. I’m not sure he’s worth such a crazy contract. ended last two years on IR… not sure about his durability. Do you really want to throw boatloads of cash at someone who might end up watching more games then he plays?

    I like Meachem though!!!

Don’t take this the wrong way Jackson, but you are crazy lol. Yes Williams have ended both season on IR. The hernia was in 2010 and didn’t have a re-occurrence in 2011, where a torn pectoral put him on IR. The pectoral injury was in week 5 and should be 100 come the start of OTA and Mini Camps. Before that he played every game after being selected with the 1st overall pick in the NFL in 2006. In 82 games he has 241 tackles, 53 sacks, 10 pass def and 11 forced fumbles. He is only, ONLY, 27 years old and was never on a defensive front line like Buffalo has with K.Williams and Dareus already in place, but he still accumulated amazing stats. IF there was ever a player to break the bank on its Mario Williams.

      Get it done OBD!!
