With the 144th pick in the 5th Round the Buffalo Bills have taken OT Zebrie Sanders from FSU, this is the 2nd OT they have selected in this draft. Sanders was a RT at FSU until he was forced to kick over to the left side this past season to replace the injured Andrew Datko.
Sanders is a classic RT, he has good strength, solid footwork, and can anchor well. He uses his hands well in pass protection, and shows some nastiness when it comes to run blocking. Has some athletic ability and could be used to pull but it’s not his forte.
Struggled on the left side at times with quick twitch pass rushers, he would get caught out of technique and lunge at pass rushers trying to hit them as opposed to bending at the knees and mirroring. Had a poor Senior Bowl week on the left side, look much better when kicked to the right side.
You’re looking at a swing tackle backup who will primarily push Pears, and Hairston on the right side, and can play LT in a pinch though it’s not something you want him doing a for an extended period of time.
