DE Jonathan Massaquoi-Troy
Weight: 264 lbs.
Grade: 6.0 (Grading Scale)
Ideal size and frame for a hand down DE in the 43…He does a good job using his long arms to keep the OT off his chest plate and is advanced in his hand usage…Shows the ability to shed effectively, does a good job disengaging at the point of attack and being able to make a play on the ball carrier…Has some ability to drop off into coverage and looks comfortable in that kind of role…Plenty of natural athletic ability and speed…Effort player who plays through the whistle and will give chase in pursuit…Talented pass rusher who has an advanced set of moves he can use.
Lacks the explosion off his first step…Is seen by some as a possible 34 OLB convert but we don’t see the flexibility on tape, and that is an even bigger concern considering we also don’t think he looks as comfortable playing with his hand down as he does standing up…Lacks ideal instincts to key on pre-snap indicators of where the play may go, as well as struggling to see the play as it develops…Struggles against strong OT’s who are able to exert their will v. him…seems to be unable to use his length once the OT gets inside his arms…He must work on being more sudden with his movements, at times it looks like he’s attempting moves in slow motion.
