OT Matt Kalil was in Buffalo on Thursday with Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick to take a tour of OBD and talk with the Bills brass. Kalil is not expected to make it down to the Bills pick at 10 but it’s never a bad idea to look at all your potential options since the draft can be so unpredictable.
Kalil is without question the best OT in this draft and is a sure fire top 5 pick with his ability to play the LT position. He is quite possibly the only top tier OT prospect who we are sure can play LT at the next level. He has great athleticism, and fluidity in his movements. He is very quick off the snap in his set up and looks smooth sliding his feet and staying balanced.
Kalil’s only real concern is that you don’t see that nasty streak that you want in an OT, he finishes the majority of his blocks but he doesn’t try and bury his opponent on the pancake. That’s not to say he’s lazy or doesn’t give it his all, it’s simply a comment on his mentality.
Suffice it to say that if our biggest complaint is that he doesn’t have that killer instinct he’s really good. There is no way Kalil will fall to the Bills so the next question is, will the Bills trade up for him?
This is the 13th visitor we have now confirmed of the 30 the Bills are allowed to have.
