While the Bills are busy entertaining QB Russell Wilson today it appears that another offensive weapon may very well be on his way to Buffalo for a visit. WR Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State has long been considered the #1 WR in this draft class and will soon be in Buffalo for a visit per Aaron Wilson.
The WR from Oklahoma State has explosive athletic ability and displays very good route running skills on tape. He loses almost no speed when changing directions and shows off a very good head fake to sell his routes and get DB’s to bite on his moves.
He has a strong pair of hands and does a good job securing the ball out away from his body. He also has a fantastic catch radius that was tested on ESPN’s SportScience show. His catch radius is about the size of a standard two car garage door.
Now he does have some concerns in terms to his attitude and top end speed. Unlike some of the previous top tier WR’s Blackmon does not appear to have that 2nd gear in the open field to get away from NFL caliber DB’s. He has run some solid times thus far but even on tape Blackmon seems to lack that next gear.
We fully expect Blackmon to be a top 10 pick in April and to this day he remains our top rated WR in this class. He is a similar player to what we have in Stevie Johnson but adding any kind of weapon opposite him is one of the top priorities this offseason.
