2012 NFL Supplemental Draft Primer

Could Josh Gordon be the next Buffalo Bill? (Photo: US Presswire)

When: 1pm EST

Where to Watch/Follow: The Supplemental Draft won’t be on TV or Radio so you’re best bet is to be on Twitter following our account at 1pm as we get started.

How Does It Work:
There will be seven rounds that are conducted and during each round each team can offer to bid a pick from that round. If that teams bid is the highest they then lose that round pick in April’s draft. For example the Raiders bid a third round pick last year on QB Terrell Pryor and subsequently did not have a Third Round pick in April.

Bills 2013 Draft Picks Available:
All Seven Rounds

Who is Eligible:
WR Josh Gordon-Baylor/Utah
RB Ed Wesley-TCU
LB Larry Lumpkin-Alabama A&M/Carson Newman
CB Quaylon Ewing-Boise State
FB Adam Harris-Syracuse
OL Scott Houghton-Iowa State
DE Montez Robinson-UGA
WR Houston Terinello-Louisiana Tech/McMurry

Who Have The Bills Shown Interest In:
WR Josh Gordon (Scouting Report)
LB Larry Lumpkin (Scouting Report)

How Is The Draft Order Decided:
Our Friend Sigmund Bloom over at the Bleacher Report did a great job explaining the process. The Bills actually have a very good shot at getting a high pick in the 2012 Supplemental Draft, which could help them land Gordon (the draft’s top prospect) ahead of teams like Cleveland and Washington who picked higher than them in April.

The Draft Order will be set shortly before the draft begins.

WR Josh Gordon Goes Round 5 to Washington
RB Ed Wesley Goes Undrafted and signs with the Jets
LB Larry Lumpkin Goes Undrafted and signs with the Bills

We’ll be opening up an Open Thread around noon, we want to here from you on your predictions, your thoughts, and are the Bills really considering taking Josh Gordon? So think about that and come back at noon to give us your thoughts!
