Come back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as I choose my five favorite Buffalo Bills and NFL Draft links to share. Feel free to submit your own links in the comments.
1 Stevie Johnson: “We gotta get better” (Via BuffaloBills.com)
Coming back from a day off and a preseason opener that left something to be desired on offense, head coach Chan Gailey had an offensive team meeting Saturday. Stevie Johnson took the meeting to heart, which is why he was visibly disappointed the offense had lost the series to the defense at the end of practice Saturday. He believes Thursday night’s preseason game should serve as a wake-up call for a team that wants to be a contender.
Other than heat, the Bills haven’t had to deal with too extreme of weather conditions. Today, the second half of practice was made a lot tougher with a pretty nasty downpour that forced me and my iPad to find shelter during the last part of camp.
3 Fred Jackson wants Lee Evans back (via Buffalo News)
PITTSFORD — Fred Jackson was soaked to the bone, trudging off the Growney Stadium turf after the Buffalo Bills practiced in a downpour Sunday afternoon. He hadn’t gotten his helmet off when I informed him the Jacksonville Jaguars had released receiver Lee Evans.
4 Tyrann Mathieu was 1st Round pick according to scouts (via Dane Brugler-NFL Draft Scout/CBS Sports)
Two told me he was a 1st rnd pick, one told me “1st/2nd fringe player”…Understandably, none of them commented on current draft status .
Editor’s Note: Mathieu is currently considered three FCS schools to transfer to; McNeese State, Jackson State, and Prairie View A&M
5 Boston College TE Chris Pantale breaks foot (via Rotoworld.com)
Spaziani added that Pantale will miss a “significant” portion of time. The senior started every game the last two seasons for the Eagles and registered 236 receiving yards on 21 catches in 2011. Junior Mike Naples is ticketed to take Pantale’s spot in the starting lineup.
