In the Russell Athletic Bowl you have Virginia Tech matching up against a former Big East rival in Rutgers. The two teams haven’t played a game against each other since 2004 and this should be a good one.

Virginia Tech had a down year for their program after the high hopes of the season rested on QB L.Thomas. Thomas was expected to emerge this year as one of the best at the position in the game and a likely first rounder in the 2013 NFL draft. While some had visions of Cam Newton in their heads Thomas failed to live up to any expectations people had for him before the season. For Virginia Tech to win this game they need a good performance from Thomas coupled with a defense that played the run well at the end of the year but needs a much better effort from there pass defense to pull out the win

Rutgers had an up and down year but that was mostly due to the offense. Rutgers defense was one of the best in the nation and led by one of my favorite players to watch, LB K.Greene. I fully expect the defense to show up but the offense is going to have to bring there A game to get this win. I expect Rutgers to attack the Virginia Tech secondary early and often

#20 Khaseem Greene LB 6’1″ 230
Greene is the exact type of LB the Bills are lacking currently. He is the sideline to sideline tackling machine that can also cover TE’s and RB’s out of the backfield. Greene would add a lot to a defense that is sorely lacking playmakers on the second level. I have a first round grade on him right now but he could slip into the second where he would make a great pick for Buffalo

#23 Jawan Jamison RB 5’8 200**
#81 Mark Harrison WR 6’3″ 230
#5 Timothy Wright WR 6’4″ 220
#76 R.J. Dill OT 6’7″ 310
#75 Antwan Lowery OG 6’4″ 305*
#10 D.C. Jefferson TE 6’5″ 250
#94 Scott Vallone DT 6’3″ 278
#42 Steve Beauharnais ILB 6’2″ 232
#11 Logan Ryan CB 6’0″ 190
#25 Brandon Jones CB 6’0″ 185
#32 Duron Harmon SAF 6’1″ 200

Virginia Tech
#3 Logan Thomas QB 6’6″ 240
Thomas has had an up and down year but there is a lot of raw talent to work with him. While I don’t expect him to be a first rounder he could easily go on day 2 with his physical skills. Depending on how the first couple rounds play out he could end up being an option for the Bills

#7 Marcus Davis WR 6’3⅛” 229
Davis is a big physical WR that the Bills currently don’t have on their roster. While Davis has nice measurables he is much more an athlete than a football player right now. He often has mental mistakes and will drop some easy passes. Much like Thomas though there is a lot to work with right there. He could be someone to look at in the middle rounds for the Bills

#83 Corey Fuller WR 6’2″ 187
#11 Dyrell Roberts WR 6’0⅞” 187
#18 D.j. Coles WR 6’2⅝” 214
#71 Vinston Painter OT 6’4¼” 299
#54 Nick Becton OT 6’5⅜” 330
#74 Andrew Miller OC 6’4″ 304*
#99 James Gayle DE 6’3″ 256*
#51 Bruce Taylor LB 6’1″ 247
#58 Jack Tyler LB 6’1″ 236*
#17 Kyle Fuller CB 6’0″ 193*
#1 Antone Exum CB 6’0″ 224*
#28 Alonzo Tweedy S 6’0⅜” 188

Prediction: I expect Rutgers defense to be to much for a mistake prone offense in Virginia Tech. Rutgers 23 Virginia Tech 10
