Prospect Preview: Sugar Bowl

When the bowls were initially announced many looked at this game and figured it would be a blow out as the Florida Gators will take on the Louisville Cardinals. On paper the Gators are the more talented team on both sides of the ball. They have the higher rated recruiting classes, they play in the better conference, and they have the pedigree and tradition on their side. However the Cardinals have two people who I think help equal all of those factors our, Charlie Strong and Teddy Bridgewater.

29 SAF Hakeem Smith 6’1, 188 lbs.*
Hakeem Smith is an athletic safety who does everything well. He is a rangy player who can make plays sideline to sideline in pass coverage. He also has the ability to come up into the box and make plays in run support. Smith is one of the leaders of a young Cardinals defense but he has really taken to the coaching of Charlie Strong and is considered one of the top 2014 safety prospects.

32 RB Senorise Perry 6’0, 203 lbs.*
28 RB Jeremy Wright 5’10, 205 lbs.*
55 OC Mario Benavides 6’4, 286 lbs.
2 ILB Preston Brown 6’2, 255 lbs.
21 CB Adam Bushnell 5’11, 187 lbs.

11 TE Jordan Reed 6’3, 243 lbs*
Reed is one of the most underrated and athletic TE prospects in the draft. He has the athleticism to beat almost any LB or DB he sees in one on one coverage and the size and hands to abuse zone coverage. Reed is still a raw blocker and will need time there but there is not a player on Louisville who can cover Reed consistently.

23 RB Mike Gillislee 5’11, 210 lbs
8 FB Tre Burton6’2, 228 lbs*
73 OT Xavier Nixon 6’5, 314 lbs
72 OC Jonotthan Harrison 6’3, 300 lbs*
2 DE Dominique Easley 6’2, 280 lbs*
99 DT Omar Hunter 6’0, 312 lbs
79 DT Shariff Floyd 6’3, 303 lbs*
3 OLB Jelani Jenkins 6’0, 237 lbs*
1 OLB Jon Bostic 6’1, 246 lbs
9 SAF Josh Evans 6’1, 200 lbs
22 SAF Matt Elam 5’10, 202 lbs*

Prediction: Louisville 34 Florida 31
