BBD Editor: Dan Hope
If you’re a Buffalo Bills fan, you have many reasons to be excited for the 2013 NFL season. With a new head coach (Doug Marrone) comes change and upgrade on both sides of the ball. The new offense could be led by a promising rookie quarterback prospect (E.J. Manuel), while the receiving corps will be bolstered by new playmakers including second-round pick Robert Woods, and one of the league’s most explosive playmakers, C.J. Spiller, returns to the backfield. The new defensive scheme — called the “amoeba” by some — will create more opportunities for playmakers like Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, Stephon Gilmore and Jairus Byrd to swing games in the Bills’ favor.
As the Bills franchise progresses through its period of change, so will BuffaloBillsDraft.com. As we begin to turn the page from the 2013 draft season to looking forward to the Bills’ upcoming season and then the 2014 NFL Draft, I will be taking over as the editor of this great site.
First of all, I’d like to my extend my congratulations and applause to Matt Elder for the work he has done here during his tenure as the editor of BBD. Matt made this website a go-to source not only for Buffalo Bills fans, but for fans across the NFL who want to know the latest information about the upcoming draft class, and how those players could fit in not only in Buffalo, but across the league. His work and presence will be missed here at BBD, but we certainly wish him all the best as he steps down to pursue other opportunities.
Some background info on myself: I am a junior at Ohio State University. I have been a writer for NE Patriots Draft since September, and am also an NFL Draft Featured Columnist for Bleacher Report and a reporter for The Lantern, Ohio State’s student newspaper. I grew up in Massachusetts — and yes, as a New England Patriots fan — but my passion for the game of football runs deeper than any one team. While I plan to continue following the Patriots in a regular capacity, and hope to continue contributing to NEPD, I am excited for the opportunity to cover a new NFL team, all the while keeping a focus on what I consider to be my point of expertise: the NFL draft.
I am truly appreciate of NEPD Editor James Christensen for affording me the opportunity to take over here at BBD. My time at NEPD has been tremendous, and I am excited to take on a new challenge with the NFL Draft Sites Network, which is rapidly growing to encompass more NFL teams than ever before. I firmly believe that 2014 will be a year of outstanding growth for the network, and I’m excited to be a part of it and hope to build upon the great work that Matt and James have done here at BBD.
In the upcoming weeks, we will not only look back at the 2013 NFL draft, but project the draft forward to the upcoming season and examine what could be in store for the Bills’ upcoming season, while also beginning to look ahead to the 2014 NFL Draft. I hope to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas and insight to the content that you will be able to read here on BBD each and every week, while continuing to uphold the quality, detail and passion that has been consistent in the work of both Matt and others who have written for BBD.
I genuinely appreciate the loyalty of the readers to this site, and I hope that you will all continue along this ride with me. That being said, I would like to engage with as many of you as possible, and truly welcome your ideas and feedback on how we can make BBD a more complete and enjoyable experience for the reader.
We are also looking for contributors here at BBD — if you have a passion for the Buffalo Bills and/or the NFL Draft, and would like to join the team, send a note my way through the contact us link to let us know why you’d like to write here at BBD and what you think you can offer! (If you have links to writing samples or other work you’ve done, please include those too.)
The countdown to the 2014 NFL draft begins today, and I’m excited about what the upcoming year has to offer and to interact with a fan base whose passion for their team is evident.
