Buffalo Bills Day 2 Targets

Could Damontre Moore be a 2nd or 3rd Round Bills target? (Photo: US Presswire)

When the Buffalo Bills made EJ Manuel the #16 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft they slammed the door shut on what everybody considered to be their biggest need since Jim Kelly retired. The Bills now have four QB’s on their roster and likely won’t be looking to draft another one. So the question becomes what does a team that has seven remaining picks including three tonight do? Well that’s what we are here for, below are our Top 5 player remaining per outstanding need.

Wide Receiver
The Bills hole at WR are massive, they could go WR two or three times in this draft and every Bills fans would be shaking their head in agreement. Look for them to target a big bodied WR who can run with the first 2nd Round pick. Here are the best five remaining who fit that mold.

1. Justin Hunter-Tennessee
2. Da’Rick Rogers-Tennessee Tech
3. Keenan Allen-Cal
4. Terrance Williams-Baylor
5. Aaron Dobson-Marshall

Tight End
Scott Chandler may or may not be ready for camp and even if he is the Bills could still use an upgrade and some added depth. Taking a TE might not be near the top of the needs chart but if one falls the Bills could pounce early.

1. Zach Ertz-Stanford
2. Gavin Escobar-San Diego State
3. Jordan Reed-Florida
4. Travis Kelce-Cincinnati
5. Levine Toilolo-Stanford

Offensive Tackle
With Cordy Glenn settled into the LT spot it’s time to add some depth and figure out exactly what we are going to do at RT. The Bills could use road grader at RT but the new Doug Marrone system calls for quicker and more athletic lineman who can zone block.

1. Terron Armstead-Arkansas Pine Bluff
2. Menelik Watson-FSU
3. Dallas Thomas-Tennessee
4. Vinston Painter-Virginia Tech
5. Reid Fragel-Ohio State

Offensive Guard
Andy Levitre is in Tennessee and this draft saw four OG’s go in Round 1. The Bills may need to move quickly to find a replacement with the depth already so limited.

1. Larry Warford-Kentucky
2. Brian Winters-Kent State
3. Earl Watford-James Madison
4. Alvin Bailey-Arkansas
5. JC Tretter-Cornell

Pass Rusher
Call it defensive end, call it OLB, I don’t care the Bills need to add some athleticism, speed, and rush potential to this defense and they need to do it quickly.

1. Tank Carradine-FSU
2. Damontre Moore-Texas A&M
3. Jamie Collins-Southern Miss
4. Cornelius Washington-UGA
5. Sam Montgomery-LSU

Defensive Tackle
With Pettine’s multiple D sets the Bills will likely need to find another zero gap DT to play behind Branch and allow Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus to work as 5 tech DE’s.

1. Jesse Williams-Alabama
2. Johnathan Hankins-Ohio State
3. John Jenkins-UGA
4. Brandon Williams-Missouri Southern St
5. Montori Hughes-UT-Martin

Inside Linebacker
Whether the Bills sign Karlos Dansby in the coming weeks or not this spot is woefully insufficient. The Bills need to find a way to add talent and depth to their inside LB grouping.

1. Manti Te’o-Notre Dame
2. Arthur Brown-Kansas State
3. Kevin Minter-LSU
4. Jelani Jenkins-Florida
5. Kiko Alonso-Oregon

No Defensive Coordinator went six DB’s more often than Mike Pettine the last two seasons. I have little doubt at least one CB will be added in this draft class someway and somehow.

1. Johnthan Banks-Mississippi State
2. Jamar Taylor-Boise State
3. Darius Slay-Mississippi State
4. David Amerson-NC State
5. Blidi Wreh-Wilson-UConn

Strong Safety
While many fans are excited about the prospects of what DaNorris Searcy can this year I am not and I don’t think the Bills coaching staff if either. Look for the Bills to add a big SS who can play in the box and hurt the opposition rushing attack.

1. Jonathan Cyprien-Florida International
2. JJ Wilcox-Georgia Southern
3. Duke Williams-Memphis
4. Cooper Taylor-Richmond
5. Earl Wolff-NC State

Buffalo Bills only Day 2 Mock:
41. WR Justin Hunter-Tennessee
46. DE/OLB Damontre Moore-Texas A&M
78. OT/OG Dallas Thomas-Tennessee

Day 2 is going to be full of fun and excited as the Bills have three picks over Rounds 2 and 3. The Bills currently hold picks 41, 46, and 78. Who do you think they’ll select?

  1. john says:

    2.a Justin Hunter
2.b Damontre Moore or Jamie Collins (he did visit ODB)
    3 Travis Kelce/Vance McDonald
    4 Aaron Dobson

    Make in effort to sign:
    - Brandon Moore and back up the position with spare parts for now.
    - Karlos Dansby. See what Sheppard and Bradham can do this year.
