Here, this writer will make his case on behalf of a few players that are not likely to be on too many draft boards, but probably should be upon a closer examination. (more…)

Who fits the amoeba?

We are 5 days into Free Agency as I write this article. The Buffalo Bills have been quiet, very quiet! Our only Free Agent signing to date has been former 1st round talent from North Carolina State Manny Lawson. It appears that Lawson was not utilized properly in Cincinnati where he was primarily a LB in a 4-3 defense.  Buffalo Bills DC Mike Pettine has stated that he will use a variety of defensive fronts in Buffalo. The Free Agent signing of Lawson I feel represents a shift from the vanilla, non-blitzing 4-3 base defense of Dave Wannstedt to a more aggressive; exploiting 3-4 defense of Coach Pettine. With the combine officially wrapping on Tuesday the NFL Pro Day schedule kicks off on Friday with a pair of FBS schools that will get to show off the best prospects in front of a contingent of NFL scouts. Both Purdue and UTEP elected to have their Pro Days early this year setting them apart from what is a very packed schedule for the rest of March. (more…)

With the Offensive Linemen now out of the way it’s time to turn our focus to the Tight End prospects. They were the final group to workout in Indianapolis today and have become a bigger and bigger part of the combine over the past few years as the TE position has continued to evolve. This year is no exception as NFL Network spent considerable time hyping the three big E’s in Tyler Eifert, Zach Ertz, and Gavin Escobar. (more…)
