For as long as I’ve been watching football I’ve always looked forward to the all-star circuit and the East West Shrine Game particularly. It may not have the prestige of the Senior Bowl but its the 2nd longest running game and always brings in a lot of talent and puts on a good product. This year is no different as the Shrine Game features prospects from every level of NCAA Football and has some of the best offensive line prospects of any game in the all-star circuit.

The Casino Del Sol Game is in its 2nd technical year of existence but really it’s the third. It was originally called the Eastham Energy All-Star game but has since changed its name. The talent level this year has once again improved and includes a little international flavor. Last year the game had three draft picks and 61 other players invited into camp and after looking over this year’s roster I’d say both of those numbers should be on the rise. (more…)

Prospect Preview: BCS National Championship

In the biggest game of his career, can Te’o bring the shine back to Notre Dame’s golden dome? (Photo: US Presswire)

Notre Dame came out of nowhere to find themselves in the National Championship game. Their offense has been suspect all year, with Everett Golson bringing big-play ability, while also being very turnover prone. However, Notre Dame has scrapped by with solid and aggressive defense, similar to their counterpart on Monday. Alabama has had one of the nation’s toughest defenses every since Nick Saban come back to college football and constantly play fast and hard-hitting football games. They also compliment this with a similarly physical running game a methodical passing attack led by a maturing McCarron. That will be the difference in Monday’s game. Although both teams have solid defenses, Alabama has a more well-rounded and less turnover-prone offensive game, which will keep them in front until their defense can force a desperate Notre Dame offense to make mistakes late. The BBVA Compass Bowl is a matchup of 2 teams meeting for the first time in their schools history. Pittsburgh meets Ole Miss in what should be a decent matchup for people who need a football fix waiting for the BCS title game Monday night.

Ole Miss has an attacking defense that actually ranked 6th in the nation for tackles for a loss. The defense while young got better and better as the year went on and was a key part in them upsetting rival Miss St on the final week of the year to make them Bowl eligible (more…)

Can Landry Jones quiet the critics and dominate the Aggies? (Photo: US Presswire)

The Cotton Bowl is one of the most historic and prestigious bowl games around. It also features one of the best match-ups of the season as the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M Aggies will do battle. The Aggies feature a dynamic duo at OT along with the Heisman trophy winner at QB. The Sooners meanwhile feature a senior led team starting at QB and trickling all the way down to the defense.
