The Buffalo Bills didn’t need a second-half comeback in a dominant 43-23 Week 8 win over the host New York Jets. The Bills led the game from cover to cover, forcing the Jets’ two-headed quarterback attack into six ugly turnovers, while Sammy Watkins did Sammy Watkins things, and improved to 5-3 heading into a perfectly timed bye week.

Buffalo now has a two-week preparation period for a game at home against the Kansas City Chiefs, which could make or break their playoff chances when the race comes down to tiebreakers in December. On paper, the Bills will take the big win over the Jets on Sunday, but it will take a better team effort in the second half of the season to keep their current pace of 10 wins.

It is now being reported by multiple outlets but credit to Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News that the Buffalo Bills have fired Head Coach Chan Gailey. Gailey came to the Bills three seasons ago as a highly touted offensive genius who would find a way to work with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and design an offense to his strengths. In his three seasons here the Bills went 16-32. They won only four divisional games in that same stretch along with going 4-24 against teams over .500 and 2-18 against playoff teams. (more…)

When the final whistle blows on Sunday’s game with the New York Jets it will officially mark the conclusion of a 13th consecutive season where the Buffalo Bills have failed to make the playoffs. In that time frame the Bills have gone through four head coaches and may be ready to run their fifth out the door as early as Monday. So what will Black Monday have in store for the Bills and their beleaguered fan base? There are four possible ways I see this thing going. (more…)

Bills v. Titans Review – Well that one hurt…

After suffering three crushing losses during the young 2012 season the Bills finally lost a close game, and the pain may have actually been worse. Coming home for one game before heading into the bye the Bills faced a struggling and injured Titans team. Despite putting up 34 points on offense, the Bills allowed a touchdown in the final minute to fall 35-34. Fans are furious. Players are embarrassed. The entire organization heads into the bye week looking to “re-evaluate” everything. What needs no further evaluation is the fact that this is clearly not the playoff team that many believed was going to step onto the field in 2012. (more…)

Bills v. Cardinals – We’ll Take It!

Well, they certainly found ways to make it interesting, but when the final whistle blew on Sunday evening, the Bills had picked up their third win of the season. They relied heavily on the ground game in a 19-16 overtime win over the Cardinals, but the team showed a toughness and determination that had been missing over the last two weeks. There are still things to improve and some questionable decisions being made, but in the NFL the numbers in the win column are all that matter in the end. (more…)
