2014 Capital One Bowl Prospect Preview: Wisconsin vs. South Carolina

There will be a plethora of NFL talent on display in Wednesday’s Capital One Bowl (1 p.m. ET, ABC) between Wisconsin and South Carolina. The headline player will be South Carolina junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, playing in what should be his final game before declaring for the 2014 NFL draft.

In what appears to be an evenly matched game, both teams have scored more than 34 points per game this season and have prolific rushing offenses.

Joe Marino’s Senior Defensive End Rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft

The 2014 senior crop of defensive ends is full of hybrid type players who may project to play 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. I based these rankings off of the positions these players primarily play in college, so all of the players ranked currently play defensive end.

The class doesn’t have any sure-fire top ten players but there are plenty of players with starter upside.

Scouting Notes: Georgia vs. South Carolina (9/7/13)

Southeastern Conference rivals No. 6 South Carolina and No. 11 Georgia matched up on Sept. 7 in an aggressive, tough battle early in the college football season. It was a close game most of the way, but Georgia came out on top in a 41-30 win.

The game was also full of potential draft prospects for the 2014 NFL draft. I took a look at how some of them fared throughout the course of the game.

2014 NFL Draft: Southeastern Conference Sleepers to Watch

The Southeastern Conference set the record for most players selected from one conference with 63 players selected during the 2013 NFL Draft. This included 12 first-round picks, which tied the record for most from one conference.

The last time the SEC did not have the most players selected in the NFL Draft was 2006, when it finished third behind the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten Conference.

The SEC is full of talent. Led by top prospects in South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews and Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley, it doesn’t appear that SEC dominance will end anytime soon. In addition to the top prospects, the SEC is full of talent from top to bottom.
