After making eight selections in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills are now busy at work attempting to sign the best undrafted free agents on the open market. As the Bills sign undrafted free agents, we will update them here.
Players Signed:
Jeff Tuel, QB, Washington State – Physically-gifted quarterback, but failed to hold the starting quarterback job through his senior season at Washington State.
Drew Smith, RB, Albany – 6’1″, 225-pound power back who ran for 18 touchdowns in his senior season.
Kendall Gaskins, FB, Richmond - Athletic fullback who can be a short-yardage runner/receiver out of the backfield.
Da’Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee Tech (Scouting Report) – Projected to be a mid-round draft pick, likely fell due to character concerns but has huge upside as a big, physical and athletic wideout who can go up and make plays on the football. Has a good shot at making the Bills’ final roster as an outside playmaker given his size, strength and quickness in space.
Brandon Kaufman, WR, Eastern Washington (Scouting Report) - Very tall wideout who led the FCS in receiving yards as a junior before declaring as an early entrant for the 2013 NFL Draft. Talented downfield receiver whose best value may come as a red-zone target if he is able to make the roster.
Kevin Norrell, WR, Stony Brook - Washington State transfer who had two productive collegiate seasons at Stony Brook.
Zack Chibane, G, Syracuse - Three-year starter at guard for the Orange follows his coach, Doug Marrone to the Bills.
Ryan Turnley, C, Pittsburgh – Tall but slow center who could also provide depth at guard.
Aaron Tipoti, DE/DT, California – Physical interior defensive lineman who projects best as a 5-technique defensive end in three-man fronts. Lacks size and not an explosive athlete, but solid run-stopper with good technique.
Izaan Cross, DE, Georgia Tech – 5-technique defensive end with good strength, made some plays at Georgia Tech but lacks speed.
Keith Pough, OLB, Howard - Instinctive, athletic small-school linebacker with a chance to make the roster as inside/outside linebacker depth. Small but showed at Howard he can really play.
Nickell Robey, CB, USC - Likely went undrafted due to lack of size (5’7″, 169 pounds), but has big upside as a nickel/dime cornerback. Great athlete who plays bigger than he is as a physical defender and sound tackler.
Vernon Kearney, CB, Lane – Tall, athletic cornerback who started to make a name for himself as the Texas vs. the Nation Game and Raycom College Football All-Star Classic. Unproven small-schooler but has high upside.
Kip Edwards, CB, Missouri – Good size for an NFL cornerback, but limited athlete with sloppy coverage technique.
Jumal Rolle, CB, Catawba
Jordan Dangerfield, FS, Towson – Short but hard-hitting small-school safety.
