The North and South teams returned to Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Thursday for one final day of Senior Bowl practice, and essentially the players’ final chances to make a good impression or change negative perceptions about them, as most NFL scouts, coaches and personnel executives will have left town long before the game is played on Saturday.

Many of Thursday’s standouts, including USC linebacker Hayes Pullard and Miami tight end Clive Walford, had already performed well on Tuesday and Wednesday and simply furthered their draft stock rises by capping off fantastic weeks. On the other end of the spectrum, Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson and East Carolina quarterback Shane Carden were among those who failed to take advantage of their opportunities to elevate their draft stocks.

Full pads came on Wednesday as the North and South squads for this year’s Senior Bowl took the field at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for their second of three days of practice.

While there were some top prospects who continued to underwhelm on Wednesday, many other players had performances on Day 2 that should help bolster their stocks for the 2015 NFL draft.

The 2015 Senior Bowl begins Tuesday with weigh-ins and the first day of practices in Mobile, Alabama.

I cautioned last week that college football Week 3 was when we could see some letdowns. That rang true as USC, Virginia Tech, and Louisville all lost to unranked opponents while No. 6-ranked Georgia fell to No. 24 South Carolina. As more and more conference games are featured on a weekly basis, the importance of avoiding letdowns is at a premium for Football Bowl Subdivision teams wanting to find themselves in the playoffs at season’s end.

An improved slate of games in Week 4 presents some exciting matchups for NFL hopefuls. Putting quality game tape out for scouts is imperative for players looking to be selected in the 2015 draft. There are many players with opportunities to do that this upcoming week.
