As you would expect when the two best teams in college football play for a title, there will be no shortage of NFL talent on the field when Florida State (13-0) plays Auburn (12-1) in Monday’s BCS National Championship Game (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

While Heisman Trophy-winning Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is not eligible for the 2014 NFL draft as he is only a redshirt freshman, the case could be made that every player in Florida State’s starting lineup has NFL potential, many of whom are seniors or potential early-round picks if they declare.

Auburn does not have as much talent headed to the upcoming draft as the Seminoles do, but they have had a number of breakout stars this year whose draft stocks have soared as the Tigers have re-emerged as a championship contender.

Coming off a 27-20 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Buffalo Bills (5-9) will be short-handed as they host the Miami Dolphins (8-6) on Sunday. The Dolphins have a chance to earn a playoff berth if they can win out, but the Bills will be looking to play spoiler and keep some positive momentum building into the offseason. It won’t be an easy challenge for Buffalo, who could be overmatched with rookie quarterback EJ Manuel and others out Sunday.

Coming off an overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, there is some hope bubbling under the surface for the Buffalo Bills. A 2-4 record is certainly nothing to get overly excited about, but they have continued to show fight despite the myriad of injuries that have plagued them throughout the season. With the team slowly getting back to full strength (with the exception of under center with EJ Manuel still out 4-6 weeks), there’s a chance that the remaining two-thirds of the season might have more success in store for the Bills.

In order for that to become a reality, however, the Bills are going to have to do something they haven’t done much of lately: win a division game on the road. Dating back to the start of the 2011 season, the Bills have won just three of their last 18 home games. That has to change if the Bills are going to keep their season on track as they play a road game versus the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Week 6 Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Buffalo Bills enter Week 6 at a critical, all-too-familiar stage in their season. Bringing a 2-3 record into a four-game stretch against teams with winning records, the Bills have to come up with multiple big wins to keep their season from falling apart.

The Bills were already set to be underdogs in each of their next four games, but the task of winning any of those games will be made significantly tougher because of the team’s quarterback situation. EJ Manuel is expected to miss at least those four games due to a sprained LCL in his left knee, which forced the team to promote Thad Lewis from their practice squad and make him the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ranking 28th in the NFL with 196 yards per game, the Bills’ passing offense had already been sluggish this offseason, but it now falls upon the shoulders of Lewis to play the best football of his career and give the injury-plagued offense a necessary spark. That could prove to be a tough task against the Bengals defense, which ranks eighth in the NFL with 316.8 yards allowed per game and seventh in the NFL with 17.4 points allowed per game.

The Bills have alternated losses with wins through the first five weeks of the season, but continuing the pattern with an upset victory of the Bengals, with a quarterback who has not even been on an NFL 53-man roster this year until this week, could be too tall of a task.

Football season is upon us. After the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos opened the NFL regular season Thursday night, the rest of the league is ready to take its turn.

No one should be more welcome to see the end of the NFL preseason more than the Buffalo Bills, whose training camp and preseason included injuries to top cornerback Stephon Gilmore, top defensive playmaker and free safety Jairus Byrd, top wide receiver Stevie Johnson and a possible career-ending injury to quarterback Kevin Kolb.

While Johnson is ready for the start of the season, the rest will all be on the sidelines (Byrd is listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report) when the Bills take the field against their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots, on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
