The players on the sideline are likely to be more highly touted than those that take the field in the Gator Bowl (12 p.m. ET, ESPN2). With Nebraska (8-4) missing four starters, including quarterback Taylor Martinez, and Georgia (8-4) down eight starters, including quarterback Aaron Murray, running back Keith Marshall and wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, the lineups for both teams will be very different from what they were expected to be coming into the season.

For both of these proud programs, the 2014 Gator Bowl will be a chance to build towards the future, allowing young players to get crucial snaps and hoping to prove to their fans there is little cause for concern.

Joe Marino’s Senior Offensive Tackle Rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft

The 2013 NFL draft proved that offensive tackle is considered one of the league’s premier positions, as three offensive tackles were selected among the first four selections. The top offensive tackle in this year’s senior class, Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews, may be even better than last year’s offensive tackles.

The team who draft Matthews will likely not have to worry about their left tackle spot for a long time. Overall, the senior class of offensive tackles for the 2014 NFL draft has good depth, with many players who have starter upside.

The quarterback crop for the 2014 NFL draft will be greatly influenced by the potential early declarations of Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), Marcus Mariota (Oregon), Brett Hundley (UCLA) and Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M). Among the senior quarterbacks, however, there are two who stand out from the pack: Fresno State’s Derek Carr and San Jose State’s David Fales.

I grade both Carr and Fales as first-round draft selections. The rest of the group combines a mixture of solid physical ability, good makeup and intangibles, but none of them put it all together. (Then again, Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers weren’t the total package when they were drafted either)

Overall, this year’s quarterback class is much deeper than that of the 2013 NFL draft, which had just three quarterbacks selected in the first three rounds and 11 total quarterbacks selected.

From now until the week before the Senior Bowl, I will be releasing a set of rankings for one position group each week, breaking down the top 2014 NFL draft prospects at each position. These rankings will include seniors only.

This week, we start with the draft class’ top-10 senior quarterbacks.

Southeastern Conference rivals No. 6 South Carolina and No. 11 Georgia matched up on Sept. 7 in an aggressive, tough battle early in the college football season. It was a close game most of the way, but Georgia came out on top in a 41-30 win.

The game was also full of potential draft prospects for the 2014 NFL draft. I took a look at how some of them fared throughout the course of the game.

The college football season is underway, and the first Saturday of the season will be highlighted by an excellent matchup featuring No.8-ranked Clemson hosting No.5 Georgia. Both teams are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, which should make for a great matchup. I will be watching the following six players closely.
