Fans of the Buffalo Bills often bemoaned the fact that the team used one of the spots on their 53-man roster last season to keep Jordan Gay employed as a kickoff specialist. The Bills themselves, however, apparently continue to see value in the role, as they announced the re-signing of Gay to a contract extension Monday.

The Buffalo Bills’ roster moves of Thursday weren’t nearly as splashy as the trades they made Tuesday and Wednesday, but they were roster moves nonetheless. The Bills tendered three exclusive rights free agents—wide receivers Chris Hogan and Justin Brown, plus defensive tackle Corbin Bryant—which will keep all three players in the fold for the 2015 season.

The Buffalo Bills weren’t able to come out on top in regulation, but they were able to pull together a win in overtime against the Chicago Bears, on the road, in their 2014 regular season opener.

Buffalo won the turnover battle, three to one, and had overall solid performances from all three of its units: offense, defense and special teams.

What did Buffalo do well to start its season with a one in the W column, and what must it do better to continue winning games and do so without needing overtime? The Buffalo Bills stayed busy on Labor Day in their preparations for their season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. On Monday, the Bills released their first in-season depth chart of the year, announced their six team captains and continued to make additions to their practice squad.
