Two franchises that have been known more for losing than winning since the turn of the century, the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns will be fighting to keep themselves in the race for a playoff position when they play each other Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

For the 6-5 Bills, who return home to Ralph Wilson Stadium after playing their last home game in Detroit due to snow in Western New York, this game is one they must win to keep even slim hopes of ending their playoff drought alive before they enter a brutally tough final quadrant of the season. The Browns are in better position than the Bills, as they are currently 7-4 and in a five-way tie for a wild card spot, but they also need victory as they hold no tiebreakers over any other teams in the wild card race.

Both teams have reason to be confident heading into this game, as each was victorious in its last outing, but football is a game of matchups. The following matchups and keys to the game will be deciding factors in how this game—a game more important at this juncture of the season than most for either in recent years—plays out.

Waiver Wire Pickups

Brian Hoyer, QB, Cleveland Browns (Owned in 14% of Yahoo! Leagues): Despite having a quite pedestrian game on Sunday (20-of-50 passing for 330 yards with one touchdown and one interception), Hoyer finally gets some relief as Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon returns from suspension is fully expected to play Sunday. The No. 1 WR in fantasy football last season will help pad Hoyer’s stats and give him a great target to throw to. Hoyer is definitely worth consideration as a high-end QB2 going forward.

Mark Sanchez, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (53% Y!): Throwing for 346 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, Sanchez’s stats from Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers look better than they really are. Most of it came in garbage time and the whole Eagles team did poorly overall. But because of the offensive scheme and the talent around him, Sanchez is still a low-end QB1 in fantasy football. He has a great matchup in Week 12 against the Titans that could put him right back on track.

Jonas Gray, RB, New England Patriots (19% Y!): The floodgates opened up last night as Gray ran for 199 yards and four TDs against the Indianapolis Colts. He ran on 38 attempts and absolutely controlled the touches in the New England backfield. The obvious replacement for Stevan Ridley (who is he again?) going forward, Gray has high-end RB3 appeal every week and makes for a great flex play as the top RB for the Patriots. He would be great to have with fantasy playoffs happening soon.
