The free-agency frenzy has officially begun with the opening of the 2015-16 NFL league year. As the Buffalo Bills fill out their 2015 free-agent class, we’ll update their signings here, along with updates of which Bills from last year’s team find new homes.

With the recent trades for running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Matt Cassel to Buffalo, the Bills added $15 million in cap hits for the 2015 season, according to Spotrac’s salary cap numbers. As a result, the Bills are down to “roughly $13 [million] in cap space,” according to ESPN’s Mike Rodak, which will force GM Doug Whaley to be creative in trying to make improvements through free agency without spending big money.

It has been reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that McCoy’s contract will be restructured, which should free up more cap space this year in exchanging for giving McCoy more guaranteed money in later years. But while this may give the Bills more flexibility, it still won’t be enough for them make many more major acquisitions. That said, the Bills might able to land the following five-pack of signings and re-signings if they are smart with how they negotiate their contracts.

While all eyes are on the 2015 NFL draft class this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, free agency is just around the corner, as the NFL league year opens up on March 10. As a result, Buffalo Bills free agents were the hot topic of discussion when Bills general manager Doug Whaley spoke with media members in Indianapolis.

I’m not in Indianapolis but as always, significant notes from Whaley’s time with the press spread quickly across the airwaves of Twitter. As such, we can react to some of the news that Whaley revealed today on a number of impending Buffalo Bills free agents, including strong safety Da’Norris Searcy, middle linebacker Brandon Spikes and running back C.J. Spiller.

An exciting weekend in Canton for the Buffalo Bills, highlighted by Andre Reed’s enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has come to an end.

Sunday night’s Hall of Fame Game wasn’t quite as enthusing for the Bills, who lost 17-13 to the New York Giants, but the first preseason game should always come with its ups and downs. The good news for the Bills is that the loss, even though they tried to win, won’t matter at all when the regular-season games begin.

It’s important to remember that just one game into the preseason—there’s still four more exhibition games to go but the games that matter begin—it’s still way too early to jump to conclusions about any players. Young, inexperienced players are expected to have some hiccups early in the preseason.

With that being said, there were members of the Bills whose performances from Sunday night deserve praise, while there were others who need to be better to make positive contributions his fall.

A lot has changed for the Buffalo Bills as they head into their final preseason showdown versus the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

In the course of one week, the Bills have seen the return of arguably their best defender (free safety Jairus Byrd), lost their best cornerback (Stephon Gilmore) to injury, released a once-heralded potential sleeper (wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers) and with quarterbacks EJ Manuel and Kevin Kolb both injured, could become the first team to start an undrafted rookie quarterback in their season opener in the common draft era.

Amidst all of those changes, the team still has some tough decisions to make in regards to who will make their regular-season roster. With starting jobs still on the line, valuable reserve spots up for grabs and injuries suddenly opening new opportunities, the final preseason game is truly important for many players on the roster.
