Perhaps it’s the draftnik in me since I’ve said this about every position, but there is intriguing talent throughout this year’s draft class of defensive ends. In a league where pass-rush and stout defensive line play is at a premium, the defensive end position is among the most important to have a great rotation at.

The 2014 senior crop of defensive ends is full of hybrid type players who may project to play 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. I based these rankings off of the positions these players primarily play in college, so all of the players ranked currently play defensive end.

The class doesn’t have any sure-fire top ten players but there are plenty of players with starter upside.

After 28 sacks in two seasons at junior college, Morgan Breslin took his talents to the University of Southern California to test his ability against the FBS ranks.

The result was a very strong junior season that included 62 tackles (19.5 for loss) and 13 sacks.

After finishing third in sacks nationally last season, Breslin is one of the nation’s top pass-rushers heading into his senior year.

Breslin is listed at 6’2’’ and 250 pounds by USC’s official athletics website. He played defensive end for the Trojans last season, but will start at outside linebacker in 2013 according to the team website.
