The Buffalo Bills scored a big win on Monday night as they trounced the New York Jets 38-3 in what turned out to be quite a bounceback performance for the team after a tumultuous week that sent the game to Detroit rather than Orchard Park. The crazy weather and travel schedule Buffalo had to endure last week did not slow the team down, as the club looked motivated and hungry right from the kickoff.

As usual, the Bills defense graded out the best as it beat up on the Jets all game long, while the offense received some pleasantly higher grades than in recent weeks, turning in a productive and balanced performance of its own.

It didn’t matter that the Buffalo Bills had to play in Detroit instead of at home, or that the game was moved to Monday, or that they didn’t get to practice all week.

On Monday night, just as they were when the two teams played four weeks ago, the Bills were the far superior team over the New York Jets, as they won 38-3 to move back above .500 (6-5) for the year.

When the Bills played the Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in Week 8, Buffalo’s defense ended up convincing New York to bench quarterback Geno Smith for Michael Vick after Smith threw three first-quarter interceptions. On Monday in Detroit, it went the other way around.

The Buffalo Bills will play a technical home game under unusual circumstances Monday night, as their game against the New York Jets, originally scheduled to be played Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium, will instead be played at 7 p.m. ET at Ford Field in Detroit, due to extreme snowfall in the Buffalo region this past week.

After a week that when, where and how the Bills would play this game became the story, the focus returns to the field Monday night. That said, the postponement and relocation of the game is not simply an issue of semantics; it could, along with the week that was, have a real effect on the Bills’ ability to win this game and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Will the Bills be prepared to win?

Having been forced to move the game from Western New York, the Buffalo Bills’ Week 12 game against the New York Jets—previously scheduled to be a home contest Sunday in Ralph Wilson Stadium—will instead be played at Detroit’s Ford Field at 7 p.m. Monday, the NFL announced Thursday night.

It won’t be much of a home game for the Bills anymore; the drive from Buffalo to Detroit is more than four hours and 250 miles away, according to Google Maps.

That said, the NFL had no choice but to move the game away from Orchard Park, as Ralph Wilson Stadium was filled more than 220,000 tons of snow as of Wednesday, according to Bills vice president of operations and guest experience Andy Major, via BuffaloBills.com.

The Buffalo Bills have been unable to practice all week due to extreme snowfall and travel bans in Western New York, but the team’s staff has still been keeping busy with its preparations for the team’s Week 12 game, both in having to adjust for where the game might be played and in continuing to reshape its active roster.

The NFL announced Thursday that Buffalo’s game against the New York Jets, which was scheduled to be played Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Ralph Wilson Stadium, will not be played at home in Orchard Park.
