Waiver Wire Pickups

Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins (Owned in 31% of Yahoo! leagues): After Colt McCoy re-injured his neck, RGIII was called upon and did a serviceable job on Sunday against the New York Giants, throwing for 237 yards and a touchdown. He also had 46 rushing yards. Head coach Jay Gruden named Griffin the starting quarterback for Week 16. With Griffin’s ability to scramble and a rather easy matchup against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that got burned by Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, Griffin could be in for a good game. View him as a high-end QB2.

Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants (Y!: 61%): Manning had a top five quarterback performance fantasy-wise this past weekend with 250 yards passing and three touchdowns (all to Odell Beckham Jr.). He had a great performance by Beckham in that game, who posted a stat line of 12 receptions, 143 yards and three touchdowns and was the go-to-guy for Manning. With OBJ, Manning has been able to put up better numbers as of late, despite losing Victor Cruz early on in the season. Manning has the St. Louis Rams in Week 16, who are known more for their pass-rush than pass defense. Especially with lead running back Rashad Jennings injured, Manning could be asked to throw more Sunday. He is a high-end QB2 this weekend.

Matt Asiata, RB, Minnesota Vikings (Y!: 38%): With Jerick McKinnon on injured reserve and Adrian Peterson not coming back this season, the majority of duties at the running back position has been taken up by Asiata. He had a good game on Sunday, gaining 86 combined yards and a rushing touchdown against an extremely tough Detroit Lions defense. The Vikings continue to trust him far more than Ben Tate or Joe Banyard, so Asiata will continue to get the bulk of work going forward. Asiata has a matchup with the Dolphins in Week 16, who gave up 79 yards rushing and a touchdown to the Patriots on Sunday. Asiata is a mid-tier RB3/FLEX play.

Waiver Wire Pickups

Drew Stanton, QB, Arizona Cardinals (Owned in 1% of Yahoo! Leagues): Carson Palmer is now out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee on Sunday. Welcome back Stanton, who was the starter for a few games at the beginning of the season while Palmer had a shoulder injury. Despite his shortcomings in talent, Stanton has a knowledge of the system and has plenty of weapons around him. He could end up being a serviceable QB2 and plug-and-play starter at points during the rest of the season.

Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants (57% Y!): The Giants are playing bad football right now, but Eli continues to put up decent fantasy numbers (890 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception in the past three games combined) despite losing his #1 WR and #1 RB. Manning seems to be clicking with Odell Beckham Jr. and is reportedly getting running back Rashad Jennings back in Week 11, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, which would give him another target. He has the potential to be a top-15 quarterback weekly and could be someone that Carson Palmer owners look at to replace him.

Waiver Wire Pick-Ups

Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens (Owned in 63% of Yahoo! Leagues): In the past two weeks, Flacco has thrown for seven touchdowns and only two interceptions. Overall, he has 14 passing touchdowns compared to six interceptions and has a good amount of weapons in Steve Smith Sr., Torrey Smith, Owen Daniels, and Justin Forsett. There are not many better quarterbacks on the waiver wire right now, so he’s a recommended pickup if in need of one with bye weeks lurking.

Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals (42% Y!): Since coming back from shoulder nerve issue, Palmer has thrown for four touchdowns and only one interception. He continues to use old habits and throw downfield to his deep threats, which only goes further to prove his health is back to normal. Arizona has a very pass-friendly offense and relatively easy schedule the next few weeks, so Palmer could put up good stats.

Waiver Wire Pickups

Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders (Owned in 4% of Yahoo! Leagues): The young gunslinger is perhaps the only glimmer of hope for Oakland Raiders fans. After throwing four touchdowns against a very tough San Diego defense, he is one of the better options as a No. 2 quarterback for the coming bye weeks. He is building a connection with his bevy of wide receivers and has the chance to put up top-15 numbers every week from here on in.

Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals (30% Y!): After sitting out for more than a month with a nerve injury in his throwing shoulder, Palmer returned Sunday against the Washington Redskins and revitalized the Arizona Cardinals’ passing game by throwing for 250 yards. Arizona loves to throw the ball, and Palmer has good amount of weapons. Pick him up as a streamer quarterback option for bye weeks.

Waiver Wire Pick-Ups

Mike Glennon, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Owned in 6% of Yahoo! Leagues): With Josh McCown out and Glennon having a five-to-two touchdown-to-interception ratio, Glennon would be a good add this week for those needing to replace Drew Brees on bye. Expect him to be a solid QB2 option each and every week considering how unstable their run game is right now and how much they are likely to be playing from behind.

Brian Hoyer, QB, Cleveland Browns (5% Y!): Despite many raving for Johnny Manziel to be the starting quarterback, Hoyer has been better than decent so far for the Cleveland Browns, with more than 1,000 yards passing and a six-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio, despite having few weapons outside of oft-injured tight end Jordan Cameron. When Cameron gets healthy and Josh Gordon returns in Week 12, expect Hoyer to put up even better numbers. He could be a high-end QB2 come fantasy playoffs time.

Branden Oliver, RB, San Diego Chargers (14% Y!): With Donald Brown now concussed, Ryan Mathews out with a knee injury and Danny Woodhead done for the year with a broken ankle, Oliver will be the lead back in San Diego until Brown and/or Matthews get healthy. After he ran for more than 100 yards and scored rushing and receiving touchdowns against a tough New York Jets run defense, he is a must-add who could easily have another great week as he has an easy matchup against the Oakland Raiders.
