Both teams in the Cotton Bowl are coming off disappointing losses that cost them opportunities to play in a BCS bowl game. Missouri fell, 59-42, to Auburn in the SEC Championship Game, while Oklahoma State lost, 33-24, to in-state rival Oklahoma in its final game of the regular season

The game’s talent pool is headlined by two potential first-round pick cornerbacks in Oklahoma State’s Justin Gilbert and Missouri’s EJ Gaines. Gilbert will be matched up against the tall, physical receiving corps of Missouri, which should be make for a competitive matchup.

The Big 12 has also produced draft depth in addition to elite talent. 22 Big 12 players were selected in the 2013 NFL draft, which tied for fourth with the Big Ten Conference.

Let’s take a look at some of the sleeper prospects of the Big 12 who could help make up that depth in the 2014 NFL draft.

After a disappointing season, Oklahoma State (7-5) will meet Purdue (6-6) in the 2012 Heart of Dallas Bowl. The teams last met in 1997 in the Alamo Bowl, and it should be interesting to see if the Boilermakers can limit the explosive Oklahoma State offense. There are players on both sides of the ball that will soon extend their careers in the NFL. (more…)

Holiday Homework: Fiesta Bowl – Oklahoma State v. Stanford

Can Weeden make a statement in his duel with Andrew Luck?

This game is the best bowl game to scout of any this season in our opinion. You have two top 5 draft picks in Andrew Luck and Justin Blackmon. Another top 15 prospect in David DeCastro and quite possibly the best senior QB in Brandon Weeden. With so many prospects playing the impact these players make will weigh heavily with NFL scouts.
