Next week at this time, we will be discussing the start of Buffalo Bills training camp, which opens with its first practice on Sunday. This past week for the Bills, however, made news for its uneventfulness, as the team failed to reach a long-term contract agreement with free safety Jairus Byrd prior to last Monday’s deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term contracts.
What’s next for Jairus Byrd? I took a closer look at the possibilities in the linked article.
His long-term status will not be known until at earliest following this NFL season, but as far as 2013 goes, he can only sign a one-year, $6.916 million franchise tender. Less than one week until the opening of training camp, he remains unsigned and it is unknown if and when he will choose to sign that contract. Eric Samulski took a closer look at how potentially missing training camp could affect his 2013 season.
Aside from the Byrd news, we also continued to preview the 2013 Buffalo Bills roster and 2014 NFL draft this week.
