The Buffalo Bills are coming off of a busy week at Bills Drive in Orchard Park, N.Y., as training camp continued to roll along while the Bills also played their first home game of the preseason versus the Minnesota Vikings on Friday. The Bills are now halfway through this year’s preseason, and less than three full weeks away from their regular-season opener versus the New England Patriots.

Over the course of the past week here at Buffalo Bills Draft, we’ve had reports from people on the scene at both training camp and the Bills’ clash with the Vikings, along with full coverage of all the latest Bills news, including a major shift in the quarterback competition. Here’s a look at back at what Buffalo Bills Draft’s best have had to say in the past week.

Sunday night marked the long-awaited return of the AMC television hit Breaking Bad. While the world awaits the fate of Walter White, Buffalo Bills fans received a brief glimpse into their possible 2013 fate on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis.

A film review of Sunday’s game has given Buffalo their own version of players who decided, in their season debut with the Bills, to “break bad.” In an effort to remain positive, we will also look at some players who broke bad habits and had a positive debut on Sunday.

Our first installment of “5 Up, 5 Down” for the Bills’ 2013 preseason looks at players who helped or hurt their case to make the Buffalo Bills roster and/or earn greater playing time, although I tried to keep my focus on rookies and players on the bubble to make the team.

Offense and defense have already been covered in my Positional Previews at Buffalo Bills Draft, so there’s just one area left to discuss: specialists. Buffalo actually has some interesting competitions at both kicker and punter to follow at training camp.

Another area to focus on is in the return game. Leodis McKelvin was far and away Buffalo’s best return man last season, but this season he is the team’s second cornerback. Will Buffalo use McKelvin as much in the return game?

Here’s a look at all of Buffalo’s positional battles at specialist positions.

Buffalo Bills Veterans Whose Roster Spots Are Threatened by Rookie Additions

With the NFL Draft now passed, the Buffalo Bills’ roster is unlikely to see many changes heading into training camp. The Bills drafted eight players and added 16 more as undrafted free agents. There is a lot of talent among the 24 rookies and each of the undrafted players stands a good chance to make the roster. With the roster standing at about 90 players, some veterans could have a hard time competing with this fresh crop of players to make the team.

Tarvaris Jackson

With first-round pick E.J. Manuel likely competing with free-agent acquisition Kevin Kolb for the starting quarterback job, Tarvaris Jackson looks to be the odd man out.

Jackson joined Buffalo in 2012 and is one of the better backups in the league. However, he faces a similar situation as he did a year ago when the Seahawks signed Matt Flynn and drafted Russell Wilson.

Undrafted free agent Jeff Tuel will also challenge for a roster spot. Tuel possesses the physical tools desired in a quarterback and would be an ideal developmental third-stringer.
