What Preston Brown Brings to the Buffalo Bills

After utilizing their first two selections on offensive players, the Buffalo Bills turned their attention to the defensive side of the ball in the third round, investing the 73rd pick in the 2014 NFL draft on Louisville inside linebacker Preston Brown.

A three-year starter in the middle of the Louisville defense, Preston Brown has been a consistent contributor. He had one of the best games of his career on the biggest stage of his career when he had 13 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss in the Cardinals’ Sugar Bowl victory over the Florida Gators at the end of his junior season.

2014 NFL Mock Draft: Day 2 Projections

The first round of the 2014 NFL Draft didn’t go nearly how I projected it would—in fact, only Jadeveon Clowney and Jason Verrett landed in both the team and pick slot that I predicted—but that hasn’t stopped me, apparently in a draft-induced state of lunacy, from updating my projections for all 68 selections to come on Day 2.

The draft only gets harder to project from here on out, especially with some of the enticing that remains on the board, but there are many team/player combinations remaining in the draft that make a great deal of sense.

Breaking Down the Buffalo Bills’ Options for Day 2 of the 2014 NFL Draft

After making a one of the biggest splashes of the first round in trading up to select Clemson WR Sammy Watkins, the Buffalo Bills enter Day 2 of the 2014 NFL draft set to select with the 41st and 73rd overall selections on Friday. Surprisingly, none of Buffalo’s 2014 draft picks were used in the move up to select Watkins.

Over the previous five drafts from 2009 to 2013, the Bills have had a great deal of success with their second-round picks, having selected Kiko Alonso, Robert Woods, Cordy Glenn, Aaron Williams, Jairus Byrd and Andy Levitre over that span. There is plenty of talent available that could help the Bills find another gem and fill needs with their Day 2 draft choices.
