I don’t recall a draft with more mixed opinions, projections and grades than this year’s, which should make for an exciting draft in May that is full of unpredictability. With one of the deepest draft classes I have evaluated, there is talent to be had in every round and ample opportunity for teams to fill holes and acquire talent.

The wide receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks took center stage on Day 2 of the on-field portion of the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday, with the receivers’ light shining the brightest of the trio of positions.

In one of the deepest wide receiver classes in recent memory, several top prospects solidified their draft status, second-tier players made a push up the board, and some late-round guys had excellent on-field showings.

With the Senior Bowl and other major all-star games in the books, draft boards are beginning to take shape before the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine is held in February.

While predicting draft picks and presenting scenarios is interesting, this mock draft is not about that. I am putting on my general manager hat and selecting the player I would take at this point in time if given the opportunity.

Underclassmen Analysis: Record-Shattering 102 Early Entrants into 2014 NFL Draft

With the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2014 NFL Draft elapsed, the draft class has finally taken shape.

Last year, a record 73 underclassmen declared. This year, the following 102 players, who announced they would forgo their collegiate eligibility and enter the 2014 NFL Draft, have shattered that record. (Note: The official count of players is 98, as Teddy Bridgewater, Dion Bailey, Adrian Hubbard and Carl Bradford did not need to be granted special eligibility because they had already graduated from their respective universities).
