Across the AFC East: Observations from Opening Day of New England Patriots Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills don’t have their first training camp practice until Sunday, but training camps are already underway for the other three AFC East teams. The dominant team in the division, the New England Patriots, began their practice schedule at 9 a.m. Friday.

A Massachusetts resident myself, I made the trip to Foxborough, Mass. to observe the opening day of Patriots practice. The practice was inundated by rain and cool weather, and was not fully padded, but it provided a first glimpse to the 2013 season for Patriots players, coaches and fans.

While it’s never a good idea to make major conclusions off of one practice, here are some observations I noted from the first day at Gillette Stadium.


Losing A Bet Sucks…

This is the part of the day that I was dreading, I made a bet with our partner site and let’s just call that a mistake. We bet straight up on the winner of the game and unfortunately for me I took the Bills because I’m a homer and the Bills honestly had me believing they would win this game. Needless to say the Bills lost, no let’s be honest the Bills got a molly whopped, yesterday and now I have to post this video as a tribute to the Jets and their victory. Well, we’re one week into the season, and it’s safe to say that much of the optimism that the Bills faithful had built up over the long offseason has diminished. Looking back at a brutal 48-28 drubbing at the hands of the Jets is never a fun task, but it comes with the territory as a fan.
