Remember Heads Up, Seven Up? Of course you do. Everyone played this guessing game growing up in elementary school. I use the term guessing lightly, because let’s be honest, a lot of kids peeked and watched who tapped their thumbs.

On Tuesday, I felt like one of those students who peeked, so to speak. During the Buffalo Bills’ morning practice, I saw a glimpse of how the rookies and veterans are performing, players who should stay as depth and which Bills players are on the verge of emerging as superstars. Based on Tuesday’s practice, here are seven players whose stock is going up.

To call Monday afternoon’s practice uneventful would be an understatement. To be fair, Buffalo had a preseason game on Sunday and flew back into Rochester, N.Y. Sunday evening. While the practice was a bit light, there is still plenty to talk about.

Quarterback Rotation

Buffalo’s three quarterbacks took time working with the offense Monday. Of the three, EJ Manuel exhibited the best natural arm. Manuel connected on a deep pass to Chris Hogan early in the practice. The ball was perfectly placed and Hogan caught the ball in stride. Later in the practice, Manuel dialed up another deep pass, this one intended for Robert Woods. Manuel’s throw was on the money, but Crezdon Butler broke up the pass at the last possible second.

The NFL preseason is underway and training camps are rolling along quickly. The Buffalo Bills’ own training camp is more than one week underway at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, N.Y., and Buffalo Bills Draft staff writer Glenn Gifford has been at two of those practices to observe and report back to us on the latest developments as the Bills prepare for the upcoming NFL season.

You can check out both of Glenn’s training camp reports, plus the rest of our original content from the past week, by following along the links in our Week in Review.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Observations, July 30: Tempers Flare at Camp

I had the opportunity to attend Buffalo Bills training camp today for the first time this season, and I am happy to report that there was no shortage of emotion on the fields of St. John Fisher College. Today saw the first fight of camp, as well as some other less-publicized arguing and smack talk that almost erupted into more violence.

I’ll begin with some basic observations and then try to be more specific with regards to selected players, coaches and schemes. I will also look at some positional battles and give my two cents, all the while fully realizing that we are only three practices into training camp.
