Although it has only one prospect with a first-round grade, this year’s draft class of guards has plenty of players with the potential to become productive NFL starters. The value for guards always comes in middle rounds, and there is a great deal of talent to be had in that range from this class.

When Texas traveled to Provo to face Brigham Young in the second week of the college football season, few expected the embarrassing upset that Brigham Young would inflict. It was a disastrous game for Texas; they gave up 679 total yards in a 40-21 loss that cost defensive coordinator Manny Diaz his job.

I took a look at a few of Texas’ and BYU’s draft-eligible players and how they performed on Sept. 7.
